Shock: RBC’s Photo Report From Freedom Day In Minsk

The authorities got scared of the peaceful demonstration on the Freedom Day.

The action dedicated to the national Freedom Day, which is celebrated annually to mark the foundation of the Belarusian People’s Republic in 1918, finished in Minsk, RBC reports.

According to different estimations, the officers of police and riot police detained over a thousand people, among whom there were approximately ten journalists, representing the local and foreign media.

The area of the action was blocked, several central metro stations were closed.

The participants of the demonstration remained in the Independence Avenue and clapped, thus expressing their protest. They also chanted slogans “Long Live Belarus!”, “Basta!” and “Shame!”
