Babruisk Resident: If There Were Fair Elections, Lukashenka Would Have Lost Power Long Ago

The protesters demand open elections.

The Charter97.org site reported from the rally in Babruisk in online mode, one of the rally participants told, why Lukashenka had to resign:

– The elections in 1994 were the last fair elections in Belarus. That was the only time I voted for Lukashenka. If we had honest elections in the country, he would have lost power long ago. There is a parable. Once, there was a dragon, who attacked the village, flew down the mountain, offended people. One man came and killed the dragon. But he stayed among its riches and became a dragon himself. Lukashenka became a dragon. We made a huge mistake in 1996, when we allowed him to change the constitution. He is no longer the president – he is a businessman. If a profitable business appears in the country, Lukashenka subjugates it. This was the case when the Euroopt supermarkets, logistics centers appeared. If he is asked: where do you get your gold watch or your maybach, he replies – my friends presented them to me. And if I come to the tax office and say: my friends – businessmen presented it to me. It’s funny, isn’t it?
