Prakapovich Enlightens Lukashenka: $200 Wages In Regions Perceived As Blessing

The former head of the National Bank has written a letter to the dictator, revealing the real wages in Belarus.

As reported today, the former Head of the National Bank Piotr Prakapovich has written a letter to Lukashenka, disclaiming his position with regard to the processes taking place in the economy.

Prakapovich writes that the economy has been stuck in stagnation for the last two years. The industrial production has fallen, the construction has dropped sharply, the population’s revenues keep falling. There have been no growth points.

“They say a lot about the macro-economic stability. However, it’s not a blind bit of difference for the ordinary people, especially in the regions, as prices grow for more than the declared 12%, and wages keep falling. Today, the people in the regions perceive the wages of Br 4-5 million as a blessing. No one offers an alternative how to satisfy the basic needs of the people. It’s easy to blabber about the macro-economic stability while sitting in Minsk. Many consider the moderate emission the only way out, as the president will not reform the economic policy,” — a source with knowledge in the government has reported the text of the letter to tut.by.

They plan to discuss the offers at today’s session in Lukashenka’s administration. The experts think it may lead to switching on the printing machine and yet another devaluation of the Belarusian ruble.
