Two years after the tragedy, Yury Biauziuk had a hope that they would find those guilty of his brother's death.

In October this year, after the death of Aliaksandr Korzhych in Pechy, the activist of the REP trade union Leanid Sudalenka, a legal inspector, and vice-chairman of the Homel trade union Andrei Stryzhak, launched a campaign to collect signatures against hazing in the army.

The campaign, as well as the actions of other organizations, media and activists, who joined their forces, aroused great resonance: people left more than 11,000 signatures; someone attacked the web site of online appeals; the Ministry of Defense has made several statements, praca-by.info writes.

But the main outcome was the changes in Aliaksandr Korzhych’s case: the Investigative Committee resumed the procedure, arrests and personnel reshuffles were held in Pechy.

These changes, which were the result of people’s demand to conduct a fair investigation, gave hope to Yury Biauziuk that the case of his brother, who died in Pechy two years ago, could be reviewed. He told his story to the journalists: "Another suicide Pechy, which fell on deaf ears." The journalists advised Yury to address Leanid Sudalenka.

On behalf of Yury Biauziuk, Leanid Sudalenka wrote a statement to the Investigative Committee demanding to find out at what stage the investigation into the circumstances of Mikhail's death had been stopped.

– We asked the Investigative Committee to notify in writing about the progress of the investigation and its result. Also, taking into account other circumstances, namely: the detected cases of hazing in Pechy, Yury Biauziuk asked in the statement to initiate a new criminal case in connection with possible bringing his brother to suicide, – Leanid Sudalenka comments.

In 2015, Yury came to Minsk to get acquainted with the case materials, but he could not find out the investigation results. Only one thing was clear enough: the persons guilty of Mikhail Biauziuk’s death had not been found, the link between his death and hazing had not been established, the case had been put on hold.

– The investigator showed us a document in which it was written that there had been an expertise that had not detected any signs of hazing in Pechy. The expertise had been carried out by the commission, which had been specially sent to Pechy. That was the end," – Yury recalls.

He says that the hope that justice could be restored and those guilty be punished, motivated him to ask for help after two years:

– There was no hope then, but now it has emerged.
