Aliaksandr Korzhych’s family and friends believe he could not have committed suicide.

On October 3, 21-year-old Aliaksandr Korzhych was allegedly found hanged in the military unit in Pechy near Barysau, where he served in the army as a conscript soldier.

The photographs of Aliaksandr’s body, with clearly seen big hematomas on the head and body, have been passed to the editor’s office of the Radio Liberty. Relatives and friends, who went to Pechy to take the soldier’s body and talked with other soldiers and officers, do not believe that Aliaksandr had committed suicide.

Spokesman for the Ministry of Defense, Colonel Uladzimir Makarau declared the following:

When the journalists pointed out that it wasn’t the first alleged suicide (25-year-old Artsiom Bastsiuk, who complained to his parents about bullying, was found dead on March 31, 2017 in the military unit # 25849 in Barusau), Colonel Makarau replied:

“This is another military unit, it’s not Pechy. The investigation in that case is also going on, so I cannot give you any comment on this either.”
