Cable TV operators broadcast channels outlawed by the Council of Ministers.

The Ministry of Information inspected cable channel operators in Vitsebsk and Hrodna regions in August.

The inspection resulted in written warnings to the local cable TV channels. The warnings were received by JSC Vitsebsk regional technological trade center “Garant”, ALC “Peredovyje Tekhnologii”, LLC “Firm Diapason”, LLC “Rost”, LLC “Varta”, ALC “Ivie cable TV”.

As the site of the Ministry informs, the officials have revealed violations of the media legislation, copyright and related rights. For example, the cable TV channels didn’t broadcast TV programs included in the compulsory public package, approved by the Resolution the Council of Ministers. Instead, they broadcast foreign TV programs, which were not allowed for broadcasting on the territory of Belarus. Also, a number of operators were not reporting to the Ministry of information on the beginning and the termination of distribution of TV programs.
