Starting September 18 IP-telephony (in other words, calls via the Internet) will be under full control in Belarus. Operators and Internet Service Providers will be required to identify the IP-telephony traffic and block in case they detect admission order violations. The relevant rules are spelled out in the “Regulations on the order of counter measures to traffic transmission violations in telecommunication networks,” posted on the National Legal Internet Portal of Belarus. The document was approved by the Presidential Operational and Analytical Centre order of July 12, 2016 and will come into force on 18 September.
