Viktar Shalkevich Fired From Hrodna Regional Puppet Theatre

The famous bard demonstrated certain freedom of thought at his concert, which Hrodna ideologists and the authorities did not like.

Hrodna actor, poet, singer and showman Viktar Shalkevich was fired from the Hrodna Regional Puppet Theater, where he was one of the leading actors, Polskae Radio reports.

According to unofficial information, Viktar Shalkevich took the liberty to demonstrate freedom of thought from the stage at his concert in Hrodna on June 10, which Hrodna ideologists and the authorities did not like.

Viktar Shalkevich was born on February 9, 1959 in Parazava, Hrodna region.

He finished school in Parazava, then graduated from the Belarusian State Theater and Art Institute in Minsk (1980). He worked in the Hrodna Regional Drama Theater (1980-1987), as a teacher in Hrodna cultural and educational school (1987-1990). Since 1990 he has worked in the puppet theater in the city on the Neman.
