  • 6.05.2016, 12:09

The Rechytsa resident was sentenced to death for murder.

Sentenced to death Siarhei Khmialeuski speaking in the Supreme Court on May 6 reported that for some time he used to stay in the same cell of the prison №1 in Valadarski Street with another condemned man, the HRC Viasna reports.

Then the cellmate was taken away and now he is there alone. Machulishchy resident Khmialeuski said during the consideration of his appeal in the Supreme Court, that he could have been executed.

It is known that Khmialeuski’s cellmate was Siarhei Ivanou. At the night of April 18, he was taken out of the cell, and Kchmialeuski was ordered to collect the cellmate’s personal belongings. Khmialeuski has’t seen Ivanou any more.

“Human Rights Activists Against The Death Penalty” Campaign Coordinator Andrei Paluda clarified the information with Ivanou’s relatives. Unfortunately, it was fully confirmed, as they received the message about the death of their son last week.

Unfortunately, the information on executions is still very guarded, and sometimes it’s difficult to find out the circumstances and the date of execution.

We remind that today there are 2 more condemned men except Khmialeuski in the Valadarski Street Prison: Henadz Yakavitski and Ivan Kulesh.
