The Russian gas supplier has announced new Belarusian consumers’ debt figures.

The Belarusian consumers’ debt to OJSC Gazprom Transgaz Belarus has exceeded $ 200 million, deputy chairman of Gazprom Alexander Medvedev informs.

General director of the LLC Gazprom Export Elena Burmistrova explained that the adjustment of the selling price of Russian gas for Belarusian consumers is only possible after the amendment of the intergovernmental agreement, interfax.ru reports.

As reported, at the beginning of this year, Belarus claimed that it had the right to pay a lower price for Russian gas.

“Since the 1st January of this year, we have every reason for our business entities to pay a lower price than we are supposed to pay to the foreign enterprise GazpromTransgaz Belarus,” – the Vice-Premier of Belarus Uladzimir Siamashka said in early May.

The Gazprom’s 100% subsidiary OJSC Gazprom Transgaz Belarus is the only purchaser of its gas. Since 2008, the gas price has been calculated according to the formula on a quarterly basis, taking into account changes in the price indices on gas oil and fuel oil (in 2013 this formula was fixed by an intergovernmental agreement).
