Belarusian Builders Remain Out Of Work

Hrodna city job centre registers more than 650 unemployed every months.

Since the beginning of the year their quantity has doubled, and exceeded 3,000, Radio Racyja informs.

The level of recorded unemployment is 1.5% of the gainfully employed population. It is the highest level in the region near Nyoman (however, official figures do not reflect the real level of undemployement – a note by charter97.org).

As noted by the deputy chairman of the administration on labour, employment and social protection of population of Hrodna city executive committee Axana Fliarko, representatives of construction industry suffer from unemployment the most:

– Lowering of the amount of construction work is observed this year, so decrease in demand for construction workers is observed. Construction and building work has decreased considerably, and seasonal fluctuations always exist, so for today we do not say that the situation has improved.

In the unemployment structure in Hrodna there are 76% of men, while women make 24% only.
