Fiadynich: Graduates Will Have To Work For $ 100 Or Find Job Themselves

The authorities cannot provide young professionals with proper jobs.

This year Belarusian university graduates for the first time could have got rid of compulsory postgraduate work assignment, which has been a real “millstone around the neck”. But most likely it would not happen.

Under the conditions when there are about 15 CVs for a position, the work assignment, in theory, could help provide young professionals with the first official job. However, those graduates who rely on the state’s help this year are going to be disappointed.

– It’s obvious, that nobody is going to create extra working places for them, – chairman of the Belarusian Trade Union of Radio Electronic Industry Henadz Fiadynich said to Salidarnasts. – Since there is lack of doctors, there will be working places for them – for example, they can be sent to feldsher's stations in Homel region. As for engineers, they are not needed. I think that this year a lot of students will be given permission to find a job themselves. There will be the situation – either to work for Br2 million or to find job yourself.

Please note that each year more than 80 thousand graduates get diplomas in the Belarusian universities. A considerable part of them fall under the so-called “compulsory postgraduate work assignment.”
