Activist of European Belarus Deprived of Car Despite Paid-up Fine

  • 4.04.2016, 13:28

Leanid Kulakou, activist of the European Belarus, got a decision on seizure of a car for an alleged "failure to pay fines for participation in protest actions."

But Kulakou says fines have been paid out.

"Today I have got two letters. The first one related to the Freedom Day, the second for Zhyve Belarus. The second letter was from officer of justice. It says that my car has been seized. It must be arrested and taken to the pound. But the fine was covered a week ago and payment receipt was presented," Radio Svaboda reports.

"Now I do not know what to do. I am cabman and it makes my bread. So they leave me at the bottom of the barrel," he says.

This week Anatol Liabedzka's car and funds on his mobile phone have been seized.
