“Parliamentary Elections” To Be Held On September 11

  • 27.04.2016, 14:08

Lukashenka accepted the date of September 11 as the date of "elections" to the "chamber of representatives".

The Chairman of the Central Election Commission of Belarus Lidziya Yarmoshina announced this today to journalists, answering the question of BelTA on the outcomes of the meeting with Lukashenka.

“We discussed the optimal date for the “elections” today. Lukashenka agreed that it should be September 11. "Election campaign" must start no later than June 10th. However, Lukashenka agreed that the "elections" should be scheduled (signed a corresponding decree - Ed.) for an earlier date. Therefore, it is planned that the "election campaign" will be launched the three days earlier the deadline, namely on 7 June, 2016. And on June 8, the Central Commission plans to approve a plan of organizational measures, the budget of the "election" and the electoral boundaries," – Lidziya Yarmoshina said.

It is to be recalled that Lukashenka said today that the "parliamentary elections" should he held "as always". The governor asked not to take into account the recommendations of the international observers, as they would "contradict the interests of the Belarusian people."
