Ananich: We Will Continue Blocking Internet Resources In Belarus

The Information Ministry of Belarus blocked access to 41 websites and issued 36 official warnings to printed mass media.

Belarusian Information Minister Liliya Ananich said that at a meeting of the ministry's board today, BelTA reports.

“In 2015 decisions were made to restrict access to 41 Internet based information resources. Access to four of them was restored after the detected violations were eliminated,” - Liliya Ananich noted.

According to her, among other reasons, information resources were blocked for spreading extremist materials and information facilitating the sales of narcotic substances, for improper advertising of medications, child pornography propaganda, advertising of alcoholic beverages.

Apart from that, 36 official warnings were issued to printed mass media. “The Information Ministry will continue to require that all parties of the information field comply with the law. If necessary, even such measures as restricting access to information resources, which activity runs contrary to national interests, will be taken,” - the Information Minister stressed.
