Large Belarusian Distillery Turns to Bankruptcy

Losses of billions of rubles and huge fines for failure to pay taxes forced Mozyr distillery into recognition of its bankruptcy.

An extraordinary general meeting dated for January 26 should have adopted the decision, the official web-site of Yeger, Gramulka and Buslinka informs. However, Ezhednevnik informs that it was switched on February 3, Mozyr.

The decision is not voiced.

The enterprise does not comment on the necessity to take to court. Belgospischeprom, the only stockholder of Mozyr distillery, failed to give an answer.

The Mozyr distillery (earlier Ethanol) was established in Soviet times as a part of bacteriological sphere and specialized in production of fodder yeasts for farm production. In 1994-1998 the plant was switched to production of ethyl alcohol, vodka and fruit wines. However, it has been loss-making recently.

According to results of 2014, for example, a net loss of Mozyr distillery amounted to Br 46.7 billion.
