The activists of the Slonim branch of the Trade Union of the Radio-Electronic Industry Workers (also known as REP Trade Union) are trying to achieve payment of the dismissal wages to the laid-off workers of the communal services.

The activists of the Slonim branch of the Trade Union of the Radio-Electronic Industry Workers addressed to the court to try to achieve payment of the dismissal wages to the recently laid-off employees of the local municipal infrastructure, Haradzenskaya Viasna informs.

The collegium of the Hrodna regional court has not announced the final decision with respect to this case at the session on November 30, having referred to the court’s necessity to collect additional information. It will become known whether the court will satisfy the legal demands of the plaintiffs or leave everything as it is, on Monday, December 5.

Mikhail Sashko defends the interests of the Slonim REP activists. He has noted the following: “The court hearing has been postponed till Monday, December 5. They say they don’t have enough information in this case. We hope that they will think everything over and decide for the benefit of the workers. In our country, labour disputes are usually solved in favour of working people if an employer doesn’t pay more money. The point here is that the employees were promised one sum and paid a totally different one, which was significantly less. So, we are trying to defend our legal rights through the court.”

The organization which is supposed to pay the fired members of the REP Trade Union all their dismissal wages, no longer exists: the Housing Repairs and Utilities Association of the Soviet district of Slonim was restructured into the Unitary Communal Enterprise of Slonim district.
