Head Of Baranovichi Traffic Police Finally Taken Into Custody

Major Andrei Vaukavytsky, who hit a woman to death by his car, will await trial in detention center.

As the official representative of the Investigative Committee of Belarus Yulia Hancharova said to tut.by, the head of Baranavichy traffic police Andrei Vaukavytsky, who being in a drunken state hit a woman to death by his car on November 26, was taken into custody.

"The investigation has made a decision against the temporarily appointed chief of the department for traffic police of Baranavichy city police department, according to which a preventive measure in the form of custody should be applied to him. The decision was authorized by a prosecutor on November 29, 2016. The investigation is ongoing," – Yulia Hancharova said.

A criminal case under Part. 4 Art. 317 of the Criminal Code of Belarus (violation of traffic rules by a person driving a vehicle in a state of alcoholic intoxication, which negligently caused the death of a person) was initiated against the temporarily appointed chief of the department for traffic police of Baranavichy city police department Andrei Vaukavytsky.

We remind, that the tragedy happened at about 20:30 on November 26 in Liakhavichy region. Drunk head of Baranavichy traffic police Andrei Vaukavytsky hit a Slutsk dweller to death by his car on the road Liakhavichy – Baranavichy. The examination revealed that his blood contained about 3 per mille of alcohol.
