RF Defense Ministry Announced Large-Scale Troop Shifting To Belarus

  • 25.11.2016, 16:47

The shifting could mean the deployment of a large Russian group in Belarus aimed at acts of aggression against Ukraine or the Baltic countries.

In 2017, according to the official tender documents, the Russian Defense Ministry plans to send to Belarus and to take out of it 4162 cars with troops and other goods, nn.by writes.

In 2015 and 2016 the transportation totaled to 125 and 50 cars respectively.

In 2017, Moscow will hold large-scale joint exercises "West-2017" in Belarus.

"NATO’s increased activity near the borders of the State of the Union will be taken into account when developing the concept and the script," – said Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu at the beginning of November.

However, the planned sharp increase in Russian military supplies to Belarus has caused quite understandable concern in the Ukrainian press.

They suggest that this may mean the deployment of a large Russian group in Belarus aimed at acts of aggression against Ukraine or the Baltic countries.
