Sanctions can be applied against the foreigners crossing the Russian-Belarusian border.

The official representative of MIF of Russia Maria Zakharova said, that though there is no border control at the Russian-Belarusian border, citizens of foreign countries shouldn't enter Russia if they haven't passed through the passport control, TASS reports.

According to the Foreign Ministry directives, citizens of third countries have the right to enter Russia only through the border checkpoints, which have facilities for international traffic.

"There are no international border-crossing points at the Russian-Belarusian border, so there is no border control of persons and vehicles. Citizens of third countries do not have the grounds for crossing the Russian-Belarusian border," – Zakharova said.

Besides that, Zakharova informed that according to the Russian legislation, sanctions can be applied against the foreigners crossing the border between Russia and Belarus, ria.ru reports. She explained that it is possible due to the absence of the international border-crossing points at the Russian-Belarusian border.

According to the diplomat, Russian government agencies are actively working on this issue.

In July, it was reported about the arrest of Ukrainian goods at the Russian-Belarusian border.
