Belarusian Weightlifters Stripped Of Olympic Medals

Athletes should promptly return the medals and diplomas to the IOC.

The International Olympic Committee stripped Belarusian weightlifters Andrei Rybakou and Anastasia Novikava medals that they won at the 2008 Beijing Games, Pressball said.

Let us remind that Rybakou took silver in the category up to 85 kg, and Novikava won a bronze medal in the category up to 53 kg. Sanctions were applied to the athletes as a result of rechecking of doping tests.

The test of Andrei contained Turinabol, the test of Anastasia contained Turinabol and Stanozolol. The aathletes should promptly return the medals and diplomas to the IOC.

The following athletes were also deprived their awards for the same reason: Ekaterina Volkova from Russia, Teimuraz Tigiyev from Kazakhstan, Olha Korobka from Ukraine, Soslan Tigiev from Uzbekistan, Wilfred Martinez from Cuba, Josephine Onias from Spain and Sardar Hasanov from Azerbaijan.
