A court in Minsk fined the opposition politician for $525 for the action that took place on September 12.

The Frunzenski district court of Minsk fined Co-Chairman of the steering committee for creating the party “Belarusian Christian Democracy” Pavel Seviarynets for 50 base fees – Bn 1050 ($525). He was accused of organization of the action of protest against falsifications of the “elections” results, which was held on September 12 in Minsk, and participation thereof, Radio Liberty reports.

The police protocol describes the essence of his administrative offence the following way: “He was standing at the background of the streamer “Lukashenka, Get Out!”, chanted “Long Live Belarus!” and expressed his opinion about the “elections” to the “chamber of representatives” in public”.

Pavel Seviarynets called the court’s decision lawlessness, in an interview:

“When the people come out to protect the law, to protest against falsifications, and get fined for that – this is double lawlessness. The current regime is crawling for money, so they keep fining people. I don’t usually attend such trials as I know the verdict in advance – 50 base fees. Anyway, the time will come when the new democratic government will assess this whole mayhem.”
