Ukrainian Army Renounces Belarusian MAZ Trucks

Ukrainian KrAZ trucks are to be bought instead of the trucks, manufactured in Belarus.

A vehicle fleet of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has barely been renovated since the Soviet times.

For example, a four-wheel MAZ-537, modeled in 1963, was used as the main truck tractor for transporting heavy armored vehicles. The Ukrainian military personnel complained a lot about the truck, primarily because it is inconvenient to drive and is difficult to repair. During the modernization of the vehicle fleet of the Ukrainian army various types of truck tractors were considered, including those produced by the Belarusian manufacturer «Volat», a subsidiary of MAZ, “Radio Racyja” reports.

But in the end, the Ukrainian military officials have chosen the tractor “Titan”, manufactured by the Krymenchugsk automobile plant. The Belarusian and the Ukrainian trucks have relatively equal technical characteristics, but “Titan” is cheaper to use and maintain.

It is expected that the upgraded Ukrainian tractors will meet the NATO military standards.
