President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko considers it necessary to introduce peacekeeping forces in the Donbas.

He stated this in an interview with the French Libération newspaper published Aug. 12, Censor.NET informs citing Sehodnia. The interview has also been published in the Austrian Kurier newspaper and the Finnish Helsingin Sanomat news outlet.

"The OSCE Mission is vital to us but it is insufficient. It is the very reason that makes us consider necessary to have the peacekeeping forces," Poroshenko said.

It should be reminded that the Verkhovna Rada adopted a law June 4 which allows introduction of foreign troops to maintain peace and security in the country.

"An international peacekeeping effort to maintain peace and security in Ukraine will ensure efficient implementation of the protocol on the results of consultations of the contact group," the explanatory note to the document reads.
