Russia deploys air forces on Belarusian and Ukrainian borders

Russia, which has been conducting “military exercises” on the border with Ukraine for the second year, sets up permanent military bases near the border.

The Russian Ministry of Defence informs about formations of air forces and air defence forces in the country's west.

“The formation includes large units and units of the 1st command of the air forces and the air defence forces of the Western Military Region deployed in 28 subjects of Russia's Northwestern and Central Federal Districts (on the border with Belarus and Ukraine). Among them are formations of fighter, bomber, transportation and army aviation, as well as formations of radio-technical and anti-aircraft missile troops,” the press release reads.

The Russian Ministry of Defence reports how the new formations of the air forces and the air defence forces are equipped.

They have Su-34, Su-35S, Su-30SM aircraft, Ka-52, Mi-28N, Mi-35 and Mi-MTV5 helicopters, S-300, S-400 and Pantsir-S missile systems.
