Belarusians have been selling foreign currency more than buying for the fifth month.

According to the National Bank of Belarus, Belarusians sold foreign currency more than bought by 106.9 million dollars. Net sales were reduced by almost half compared to May. Belarusians began to buy more foreign cash in the holiday season, but the volume of sales increased, too. Experts say sales remain high due to declined income in rubles and the need to spend savings in foreign currency on daily needs, tut.by reports.

According to the National Bank, individuals began to buy more foreign cash by 29.3% (to $508.3 million) in June in comparison to May. This is the maximum amount this year. The amount of sold foreign currency rose by 2.4% to $615.2 million.

With cashless exchange operations taken into account, Belarusians continue to sell more foreign currency than buy. People sold $3.657 billion dollars and bought $2.968 billion in the period from January to June.

The balance of purchase and sales of foreign currency by companies was negative in the last six months. Residents bought $9.016 dollars and sold $9.078 dollars.
