Belarus will pay $3.2 billion to serve its public debt in 2016, first deputy minister of economy Aliaksandr Zabarouski said.

“The state will have to pay $3.2 billion under its foreign currency obligations, including $2 billion as payments on the external debt and $1.2 billion as payments on the foreign currency-denominated internal debt,” AFN news agency quotes Zabarouski.

The sum mentioned excludes the ruble-denominated internal debt.

Taking into account the size of Belarus' foreign currency obligations, the ministry suggests refinancing not less than $1 billion of the country's external debt in 2016.
