Export losses to Russia equal to $900 million

  • 4.05.2015, 7:52

In January-February Belarusian enterprises lost $900 million on exports to Russia.

Prime Minister Andrei Kabiakau said it on "Belarus 1" TV channel.

The head of the Government has confirmed the intention to increase supplies of goods to other countries, not to depend on exports to Russia. In particular, the Government intends to reach $5 billion point of shipments to countries in North Africa, Latin America, China, India and Indonesia, Kabiakau added. He says the Government has identified 56 promising markets.

In late April, Andrei Kabiakau called attention to the need of export diversification during the meeting of the Council of Ministers. The Prime Minister noted that it was getting harder to work with Russia because the dismal economic situation made Russia protect its producers, despite the regulations of the Eurasian Economic Union.
