Poroshenko: Minsk’s indecision over Crimea is Belarus’ problem, not ours

Ukraine’s President Petro Poroshenko confirmed information that while the final declaration of the Eastern Partnership was coordinated, Belarus refused to acknowledge that Crimea had been annexed.

He said so to journalists in Riga before the meeting of the European People’s Party leaders started, Evropejska Pravda informs.

Answering the question concerning reports from diplomatic sources on this position, Poroshenko stated that the time has come for Belarus to make up its mind, whether it joins the common position of the entire world or not.

“The situation with Crimea’s annexation has been recognized globally. Now Belarus is to decide on its position,” the president said.

“And if it is fairly indecisive in this issue, it’s a problem of Belarus, not of Ukraine or the European Union,” Petro Poroshenko added.

The president refused to answer the clarification question whether such a position of Minsk is to influence bilateral relations of Ukraine and Belarus.

We remind that Belarus and Armenia haven’t signed the final statement of the Eastern Partnership summit, as it included the phrase about Crimea’s occupation.

At the Eastern Partnership summit Belarus was represented by the Foreign Affairs Minister Uladzimir Makei.
