Huge prices for drugs in Belarus

Doctors do not recommend Belarusian drugs.

Andrei, charter97.org reader, writes on Facebook.

My wife's uncle has a cardio stimulator. It needs a supportive therapy the rest of the life. The doctor said: "There are Belarusian drugs, but I do not recommend them". Ok, the health requires not supporting domestic production. It is bad, but the choice is obvious. Imported drugs cost from Br550 to Br750 thousand. He lives in Hrodna next to Poland. . Friends and acquaintances bring the medicine. Now, attention! Here is the price: Br200 thousand. And it is 3-4 times less expensive than in Belarus. Throw over the fence and voila...", he writes.

It should be reminded it is not the first alarm in the pharmacy sphere: in autumn 2014 the editorial office of charte97.org received similar messages. Then we first managed to publish some insider information about upcoming shortage of imported drugs. Later it was confirmed: imported vitamins have started to disappear in Belarus and pharmacists just only shrug their shoulders.

Earlier Dzmitry Ramanovich informed charter97.org about imported drugs substitution. Medical practitioners, in turn, share real examples of inaction of Belarusian drugs. Health Minister Vasyl Zharko demands from health care workers to promote Belarusian drugs and even forces to prescribe them.

Recently, it was also reported about future price increase of Belarusian drugs.
