Russia and Belarus have joint military drills

Belarusian servicemen take part in the command and staff drills of the operational strategic command of the Western Military District of the Russian Armed Forced.

Charter97.org learnt it from the press service of the Ministry of Defence of Belarus.

“Representatives of the armed forces of Belarus and Russia will continue working on joint planing of the use of the regional group of troops (forces) of the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation for ensuring military security of the union state,” the press release of the ministry informs.

The drills is a part of a joint training campaign of the armed forced of the two states aimed at “increasing compatibility of the military command bodies”.

In the middle of March, Russia sent Belarus Su-27 fighter jets and military transport planes for air reconnaissance and defence of the union state. Earlier, Belarus proposed Russia to station additional 15 aircraft in the country.
