Opposition activists held a campaign to support the country's national symbols that were banned by the authorities.

Monuments and sculptures in Winners Avenue, Vera Kharuzhaya Street and in the park near the central railway station were decorated with white-red-white ribbons, charter97.org learnt from Minsk residents.

The white-red-white flag was banned after the 1995 referendum.
