The former squad in the colony was disbanded.

Political prisoner Ihar Alinevich, serving his sentence in the Vitsebsk colony Vitba-3, has recently been transferred to another squad with former chiefs, police officers, prosecutors and judges.

Ihar Alinevich says they behave now so that nobody could know about their former high status. Ihar Alinevich's mother shared his impressions, Radio Svaboda reports.

"His former squad is disbanded, because, right now, those convicted for drugs are being gathered together in one place, and, as a result, his squad has been significantly reduced. He told he got in the squad of "formers". They used to hold high positions. Such as prosecutors, their deputies, senior police officers and so on. He did not name them, but it was sad to look at them as they lost all their arrogance", Valiantsina Alinevich told.

He got a job as general worker in woodworking and is busy with this work every day. Valiantsina Alinevich says "he has almost no time on books and letters, but he does not complain. It is not in him". It is noteworthy that she does not know how much money her son earns at this work. She says this topic is not discussed during their short visits. At the same time the woman believes her son has certain problems with food because she was repeatedly denied to give him a food parcel at the meeting, and it is extremely difficult to survive with the food which is provided by the colony.

"Everything shows he is a political prisoner. Not only in the fact he is cut of parcels, but in restrictions to information. I'm waiting for his letters for 18-19 days or even do not have them received at all. Telephone calls are allowed one time in three months. Yesterday he made a call, it was a luck we were at home. He asked whether we got his postcards on March 8. As a result only 3 of 15 postcards were received. In other words, they do everything possible to worsen the situation, even with greetings", Valiantsina Alinevich said.

It should be reminded that on May 27, 2011 Zhanna Khvainitskaia, the judge of Zavadski District in Minsk, sentenced Ihar Alinevich to 8 years of imprisonment in the colony with a reinforced regime. He, as well as Mikalai Dziadok, and Aliaksandr Frantskevich were accused of organization of a procession in front of the Defence Ministry, the attack on the casino Shangri La and the detention centre in Akrestsina Street and setting fire to the door of the branch of "Belarusbank".
