The leader of the Belarusian opposition Mikalai Statkevich believes that joint rallies of politicians and small businessmen would make the authorities to make concessions.

Sole traders invite Mikalai Statkevich to join their protest rallies. The former political prisoner, ex-candidate in the presidential elections – 2010 told Radio Racyja about possible joint actions:

– First of all, I am concerned about the situation with people, as millions of people buy inexpensive goods in shopping centres, and from sole traders in consumer goods marketplaces. When authorities see the interest of democratic leaders to this problem, and when they see that I meet and make some joint rallies of politicians and small businessmen, the authorities are usually frightened by that, and they could make concessions.

Mikalai Statkevich wants to be sure that not regular opposition activists, but sole traders would gather for the rally, and it would be desirable to have at least several thousands of them.

We remind that mane sole traders are going to stop trade since January 1, 2016. Since that date, according to Lukashenka’s decree, sole traders would not be able to sell without certificates light industry goods imported from the countries of the Customs union.
