Lavon Volski: Square Can Happen at Any Time

  • 16.10.2015, 7:35

No need to be disappointed, but change the situation.

Lavon Volski, frontman of Krambambula band, stated that in his interview with Radio Svaboda.

- I'm not disappointed in people. You cannot ask people for high morality, a sense of events and wisdom, when they were made forget their history and culture for centuries. Plus, first they were foreigners, now our compatriots brought up by foreigners. No need to be disappointed, but change the situation. Everyone should do it in his own sphere, the musician said.

Lavon Volski explains, what his words "go to woods and engage in guerilla activity" mean.

- I perform at informal events, write books, paint, shoot videos. It's a different kind of such activity, he said. - It's time to get out of music, if you're tired of concerts, releases, promo campaigns, promotional events, music videos, press attention and so on. The forbidden musician in Belarus does not have chances to get tired of it. And I perform in different directions: prose, visual art, video, public activity.

The musician told the story about the most popular songs of NRM band, he used to be its frontman.

- I wanted to write a song with a subversive text with no reason to find fault with, but in the way we like - "Guerrillas, Belarusian sons." But people accepted it and even sang it at rallies.

It's noteworthy that after all perestroika disclosures and information about a war in our country, the guerrilla theme was not popular at all. Now, it is like a flag now, that was repainted, rewashed up and renewed, he said.

Lavon Volski also shared his opinion on the Square and protests after the last "elections".

- Square could be organized at any time. It does not depend on politicians and other strategists, the musician said.

It should be recalled that on October 14 Pyarshak label released the farewell album "Chyrvony Shtral" of Krambambula. On November 7 the band presents it in Vilnius. The concert will take place in the Compensa hall that holds 4000 persons. Belarusians can take free visas.

Musicians say that after the show "they all intend to go to woods and engage in guerilla activity. The time when we used to think everything would settle by itself is gone".
