Russian Journalist on “Elections” in Belarus: Discounted Potatoes, Beer, Pies – And Not a Soul At Polling Station

A Russian journalist shared his impressions of visiting a poling station in Uruchcha.

Yevgeniy Babushkin wrote about that in his article on "Snob" web resource.

“Here is a polling station №60—a school in Uruchcha, a prosperous area at the outer side of Minsk Ring Road,” – he writes. “Everything is almost like in Russia. There are discounted potatoes in the yard, in the café one can see beer and pies, Russian pop music is heard from a tape recorder; gloomy women (the electoral commission) are sitting in a row – and extremely gloomy observers. A full-length portrait of Lukashenka is in the hall. And not a soul.”
