Belarusian Mikhail Zhyzneuski killed in Kyiv year ago

Belarusian Mikhail Zhyznesuki was among the first victims of clashes in Hrushevsky Street in Kyiv.

He received a gunshot wound to the heart during clashes between Euromaidan protesters and the Berkut police squad on January 22, 2014.

Mikhail Zhyzneuski was born on January 26, 1988. He was killed only few days before his 26th birthday. He lived in Homel before moving to Ukraine on September 11, 2005. He was put on the Belarusian wanted list, but was later removed, because he was found in Kyiv.

Mikhail Zhyzneuski was a member of Vitali Klitschko's team and an activist of the Ukrainian far-right UNA-UNSO organisation.

He was awarded with the Order of Heavenly Hundred on November 28, 2014. President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko handed the award to Zhyzneuski's parents.

Mikhail Zhyzneuski is buried near Homel. His grave was desecrated by vandals several times.
