New National Bank chief refuses to talk to press

  • 16.01.2015, 16:46

Pavel Kalaur, the new head of the National Bank, decided to avoid the media for some time.

He does not only refuse to have a live press conference, but also is not ready to use such new “features” of the Belarusian ideological machine as a call-in session or a question-and-answer session on websites of state-owned news agencies that allow pre- or post-moderation, AFN reports.

The press service of the National Bank offered the media to communicate with Kalaur in a written form.

Journalists of a number of media outlets were offered to send their written questions. Answers to the questions (their number and content will remain a secret) will be published on the bank's official website on Tuesday.

Pavel Kalaur replaced Nadzezhda Yermakova as the head of the National Bank on December 27. Kalaur had been the chairman of the board of Belvneshekonombank since October 2010.
