Ukraine to build wall on border with Russia

The Ukrainian government begins a project titled “Wall” to construct a real border between Ukraine and Russia.

The prime minister of Ukraine, Arseniy Yatsenyuk, said at the government meeting, UNN reports.

“We start the “Wall” project. It is the construction of a real border between Ukraine and Russia,” he said.

Ihor Kolomoyskyi, the governor of the Dnipropetrovsk region, proposed some months ago to construct a wall on the Ukrainian-Russian border. The engineering project and the feasibility study have already been sent to the president's administration.

The project provides for constrcting a metal fence with a height of 2 metres and a length of almost 2,000 kilometres. Barbed wire with a height of 25-30 centimetres will be installed on the top of the fence in accordance with war time requirements. Parts of the fence will be electric. The project includes ditches, minefields and alarm systems. Works will be performed by specialists of the Ministry of Defence.
