US imposes sanctions on 11 terrorists

The US Department of the Treasury has added 11 persons to the list of specially designated global terrorists.

Their names were published on the website of the Treasury Department.

The updated list includes Georgian Tarkhan Batirashvili aka Omar al-Shishani aka Omar the Chechen, ITAR-TASS notes. According to the US Treasury Department, Batirashvili and another person, Tariq Bin-Al-Tahar Bin Al Falih Al-'Awni Al-Harzi are suspected by the US of supporting the Islamic State.

The Treasury Department says the measures were taken to counter terrorism in compliance with the initiatives announced by Barack Obama on Wednesday.
