Aleksey Shiropaev: Moscow is city lost for Putin

The famous poet and journalist shares his impressions of the March for Peace in Moscow.

“There were a great many of people,” Aleksey Shiropaev writes on the website Rufabula. “The number of people obviously exceeded expected 50,000. My Moscow didn't let us down. This is the city absolutely lost for Putin. He apparently hates it.

It was a powerful outburst of positive, healthy, youthening energy. All of us became stronger today.

It was a very important event that, perhaps, will stop Russia's movement to the evil. It turned out that Russia has the will to the good. This is the will of people of freedom and culture. Of those who stand against the inner fascistisation and the mad foreign policy provoking the World War III. Of those who respect the right of other nations to their own choice. Of those who understand people may go to Gulag camps tomorrow if they don't gather for the March for Peace today.”

The March for Peace against the war in Ukraine was held in Moscow yesterday, Similar unsanctioned rallies were organised in other Russian cities.
