EU wants to ban entry for Shoigu and freeze his assets

Representatives of a number of the European Union states offered to add the name of Russia’s Minister of Defense to the sanctions list.

It is reported by Reuters with a reference to diplomatic sources.

It is proposed to ban entry to the territory of the European Union for Sergey Shoigu, and freeze the assets in Europe, gazeta.ru reports.

Earlier Federica Mogherini, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Italy, told that on September 5 a decision on the package of new sanctions against Russia is to be adopted.

In June the European Union put on the sanctions list such persons as the FSB director Alexander Bortnikov, the head of the Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) Mikhail Fradkov, the leader of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov, the governor of Krasnodar Kraj Alexander Tkachev and the Secretary of the Security Council of Russia Nikolai Patrushev.
