MPs ask Poroshenko to impose martial law

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine is to start the work of the new session from the issue of declaring martial law.

Such a statement has been made at a briefing after the session of the coordination board by the leader of “Batkivshchyna” (the All-Ukrainian Union "Fatherland") faction Sergei Sobolev, NR-Ukraine informs.

“Today at the session of the coordination board of the Verkhovna Rada and deputies’ groups the issue of a necessity and possibility to impose martial law. This issue was raised by heads of factions. We shall speak about that at the meeting with the president, which is to take place at 5 p.m.,” he said.

Sergei Sobolev also added that the issue of holding the early election of the Verkhovna Rada is to be discussed with the president as well.

At the same time, the law on purging, which has been approved by the Verkhovna Rada in principle, is planned to be considered in the second reading on Thursday.
