Lithuanian Foreign Minister: Situation in Ukraine becomes deadlocked

  • 28.08.2014, 17:54

The head of the Foreign Ministry of Lithuania Linas Linkevicius states that Ukraine needs more foreign aid.

“Everything becomes deadlocked because of absurd decisions and no-win situations, which had been created by today. People are dying, and it is very hard to justify such moves and look for some logics. It is a reality, and we should struggle with this reality resorting to every means available. It includes pressure, and influence, and sanctions, which are still far from being depleted. Every kind of help should be rendered to Ukraine, and Ukraine should concentrate in all senses,” Linas Linkevicius says.

“We should help Ukraine more persistently, as there have not been any relevant changes on the part of Russia towards Ukraine,” the diplomat added.

“It is very hard for me to make any predictions, even as a human. When one looks at the map and sees a threat to Mariupol, all kind of thoughts are entering one’s head, for instance, about a corridor to the Crimean peninsular, or maybe even about a wider aggression,” Linas Linkevicius noted.
