The dictator appointed Aliaksandr Yakabson his aide – chief inspector for Minsk.

Lukashenka emphasised that he invited the former head of the State Control Committee to a meeting on purpose, though he could just sign the decree. “I do it on purpose. People should not think Yakabson has any problems with the president or the state,” he said.

Lukashenka thinks Aliaksandr Yakabson remains an officials and added he didn't want to lose such a specialist. “The state needs the brains and experience such people have,” he noted.

Minsk has a huge municipal infrastructure, Lukashenka notes. “You are familiar with these problems. You are an industrial businessman. Minsk has a huge industry. You are an experienced person. This is very important for an inspector,” he said. “We need your experience here.”
