Russia’s State Duma MP: Fine line divides us from war with Ukraine

The conflict in Donbas (Eastern Ukraine) can become very long.

Such a statement has been made by Alexei Pushkov, chairman of the Russian Duma's foreign affairs committee, at a meeting with local citizens in Balaklava, Crimea, РБК writes.

As a spokesperson of “Edinaya Rossiya” party told, the deputy started his speech by the words that Russia is divided by “a fine line” from a war against Ukraine. These words were said as an answer to the question why Moscow does not react to “shelling of its territory” by creation of a no-fly zone over South East of Ukraine.

As said by Pushkov, it could be a very long conflict, as “Ukraine will be supported by Europe and the US, and partially that’s the aim of their actions. Patrolling of the Ukrainian air space by our planes can provoke the beginning of this conflict,” he explained.

“All the statements of Kyiv that the Russian territory is attacked by fire by militants are fabrication,” Pushkov continues. “We have harshly warned them about possible retaliatory measures, and there is no response so far.”

Kyiv refutes involvement of Ukrainian military to firing at the territory of Russia. Experts believe that by such accusations Moscow is trying to justify its possible invasion to the territory of Ukraine.
