Ticket inspectors warn about increase in fares in Minsk

Charter97.org received a letter from a reader who says public transport tickets in the Belarusian capital may rise in price.

“Maybe these are just rumours, but a ticket inspector said this morning that tickets would cost 4,500 rubles tomorrow. I think people should know it to buy more tickets, which remain valid within 10 days after a rise in fares,” he writes.

Minsktrans refutes the information about raising public transport fares tomorrow.

“This not true. We didn't even print new tickets,” a representative of the company said.

However, the absence of new tickets has never been an obstacle for raising fares. The question about the date of the price increase remains open.

It was announced yesterday that public transport fares in Homel would rise from 3,200 to 3,500 rubles.
