Anti-alcohol picket allowed in Niasvizh post factum

The authorities of Niasvizh permitted to hold an anti-alcohol picket in a way that it was impossible to have it.

They allowed to have a picket near the Crystal store from 17:00 to 19:00 on July 15. The answer of the chairman of the district executive committee is dated July 9. However, the letter arrived at the post office only on the day of the planned picket, on July 15. It can be seen from a stamp on the envelope, charter97.org learnt from the press service of the Belarusian Christian Democracy party (BCD).

Natallia Bordak, a BCD activist, learnt about the permission when it was too late to hold the picket. “Even letters from abroad are delivered quicker,” she said.

The Belarusian authorities banned more than 100 anti-alcohol pickets across the country.
