Eggs and bread prices freed up

  • 2.07.2014, 16:50

Food prices continue to go up.

The Ministry of Economy has deleted hen’s eggs and some kinds of bread from the list of socially important goods, prices for which are regulated by the state.

In particular, “fresh hen’s eggs” and “rye and rye and wheat bread, wheat bun goods with sugar and fats content less than 14%” have been removed from the list.

Thus, now manufacturers will be able to set seller prices for these goods without being guided by maximum prices fixed by the state.

At the same time, the Ministry of Economy reserves the right to regulate maximum trade mark-ups for eggs and bread, which at the moment are 15% and 20% respectively.

Gradual prices deregulation is one of Belarus’ commitments in the framework of the Common Economic Space and the emerging Eurasian Economic Union.
