Ukrainian Su-25 shot down by Russian jet

A Ukrainian Su-25 aircraft was shot down by a missile fired from a Russian military plane.

The National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine wrote it on Twitter.

The Council's Andriy Lysenko told details of the incident to Ukrainskaya Pravda newspaper.

“Another provocation was carried out by Russia at 19:00 on July 16. A military plane of the Russian Federation launched a missile strike against a Su-25 aircraft of the [Ukrainian] armed forces that was performing tasks in Ukraine,” he said. “Our plane was shot down, the pilot ejected and was taken by Ukrainian forces to a safe place. The pilot is alive and has no injuries,” he said.

It was reported yesterday that the territory of Ukraine was attacked by Grad rockets from Russia.
